Did You Know…The end of the school year around 1960 was one to remember. All of the children in Merigomish School were jammed into Orville Mason’s school bus and along with a couple of cars belonging to the teachers all were whisked away out the Forbes Mill Road, out through French River and up to the fire tower at Blue Mountain for a picnic. Lots of games – catch, running, hide & seek, etc.. The bus was not a large one and there was standing room only for the drive there and back. Kids barely had a seat corner to sit upon – a wonderful time was had and a great start to the summer vacation!
